RECOVERY OF FAKE CURRENCY BY ADMINISTRATION POLICE

recovered fake currency worth Kshs. 1,000,000 in denomination of Kshs.1,000/=.

The response team which was headed by Mr. Mohamed Sheikh who is also the Deputy Chief Operations
Rapid
Deployment Unit has been tracking the money making cartel for sometime now.
In an early operational raid yesterday (17/11/08), the officers were able to corner and apprehend one Sammy
Oliver (alias Aina Washiko) who was in the process of printing out the currencies. After his arrest, the suspect
who it is
believed is working in cahoots with a number of other people revealed the entire process which was also saved in his mobile phone. With him were equipments which include dryers, chemicals and wipers among others.
At the time of arrest over Kshs. 100,000/= had been processed while the bulk of the currency was yet to
be cleaned. Also in his person were over ten credit cards from various organisation including one from Germany.

While commending the officers for the good work done, Mr. Mulandi who is the Chief of Operations and Logistics
at
the AP Headquarters also thanked members of the public who had given out valuable information which had led
to
the arrest of the suspect. He also urged them to be on the look out for fake currency since it is probable that the
cartel might already have some of its printed notes in circulation.
Meanwhile, the officers will continue to work around the clock to get rid from the society any elements which have
criminal intent. To succeed in this, Mr. Mulandi invited the public to work closely with the police at all times.
The suspect was later taken to Embakasi Police station together with the recovered exhibits.
